"How do I say goodbye " by Dean Lewis

Dean Lewis Grant Loaney (born 21 October 1987) is an Australian pop singer-songwriter. He is best known for his 2016 single "Waves", which was certified 7× platinum in Australia in 2019, and his 201ingle "Be Alright", which reached number one in Australia and was certified platinum within four weeks of release, eventually reaching 11× platinum in Australia and multi-platinum worldwide, including double platinum in the United States.                                                                                                                         It's difficult to say "goodbye" to someone who has shared your entire life with you. However, one day we all must bid farewell to our loved ones. "How Do I Say Goodbye" was written about the impending loss of Dean's father, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2019. Fortunately, his father has since undergone treatment and is now in remission, regaining his health.

The song is heart-wrenching, beginning with his mother's message, "Darling, please come home," evoking a sense of fear in him.

In the song, the father is portrayed as being always there for his son, regardless of the circumstances. He gave him his name and eye color, and is also his closest friend. To the protagonist, his father represents the best light he has ever seen, and he does not want to lose that light. Essentially, the song is centered around the principle of the father being the guiding force in his son's life.

"And I saw the way she looked into your eyes 

And I promised if you go, I will make sure she's alright "

This line in the song also reveals the depth of his love for his mother. In a video featuring Dean Lewis, he expressed to his mother that he truly meant those lyrics. The song has made his father proud and happy, as half of the accompanying music video is shot through a camcorder to showcase his happy childhood memories with his father. Overall, the song and its music video are both fantastic!
